Recommended Essay Tips:

These are some recommended essay tips to help you get the most from your essay writing.

Include a thesis:

There is an incredibly important part that should be included in every essay known as the ‘thesis’. The thesis is there to basically reveal and explain the main idea of your essay, so you can imagine how important it is. Due to the importance of the thesis, it should always be written in a very clear and concise manner.  Another thing to remember is that, while the thesis should be included as part of the introduction, it should never be made the first sentence of the essay.  Instead, it is a better idea to place it at the end so that it serves to transfer the reader from the introductory paragraph to the main body of the text.

Include a thesis:

Relating back to the last tip we gave regarding the thesis, your essay should always be written in a coherent manner so that paragraphs flow from one to another. This is where the idea of ‘transitions’ comes in. A transition is a phrase that braches paragraphs together so that they lead on from one another. This allows your ideas to flow better and in the end creates a far more sensible read.

Examples of phrases you can use for transitions include:

  • Despite the previous arguments…
  • Speaking about this…
  • Regarding this…
  • With regards to this…
  • As has been noted…
  • To put it briefly…

These are but some of the different transition phrases you can use at the end of paragraphs. There are undoubtedly many more that you can think of!

Always Proofread:

This is probably the most basic of tips for essay writing but still one of the most important. You must make sure that your spelling and grammar is correct as this improves readability and will get you better marks. The easiest way to do this is to take some time to read through your essay straight after completion.
